Alright, yesterday kicked ass. I had the pleasure of fighting for the Free Kingdoms in the Clan War Tourneys. We placed 2nd overall (as expected, Clan McKrye got the win).

Here's the tournaments I competed in, and the results:

1. Weapon of choice. It was pretty funny how everyone showed up with sword and shield. I placed 3rd, but I think I technically won it. I fought 4 times, and won 3 of those fights. It was short and lots of dirty work, but it was fun.

2. Combat Archery: THIS WAS THE BEST FRICKIN' TOURNAMENT FROM ALL OF YESTERDAY!!! Here's what happened, the archers would form a pool. Two archers at random were picked and given 15 seconds to run through the woods to preferred ground, and a "Lay On!" was given. The way to win was to kill or maim the enemy (can't use a bow with one hand). First two battles, I scored wins the first two times. Then my losing streak cut in. Crossbows were better for this tourney because you can use them with one hand, and are faster to load. I nabbed third place in this tournament, as well. Imagine Goldeneye: 007 multiplayer, except in real life.

3. 3 Man Team, Limited. No armor, no magic. Took second, with Clan McKrye taking the #1 spot (despite us beating them).

4. 3 Man Team, Unlimited. Armor, magic allowed. This was the BEST fighting I've ever done. Shokra and Sasha were killed early in our first match with Clan McKrye...leaving me by my lonesome self, armed with sword and shield against a two handed weapon (wielded by Will), a sword and shield fighter (Owen), and Zeke (no weapon, but he carries a massive shield that everyone can hide behind, pretty much). I stayed alive for quite some time. I THINK I killed Zeke, took off Owen's legs (and destroyed his chest armor and damaged his head armor), and took off one of Will's arms before they could kill me. We again took second again, bested only by Clank McKrye.

Another funny moment was the "whack-a-mole" match we had...Sasha had 12 combat raises. Shokra and I were being killed because we were trying to keep Sasha safe, but she'd just raise us back and we'd keep hitting things until put down again. Then she'd raise us. Etc. This happened until we were victorious in that matchup. It literally looked like a whack-a-mole game in the arcades.

5. Kobold/Goblin/Troll/Wizard/Knight event: I was the knight for my team. My job was to fight for the honor and hand of the fair maiden. Unfortunately, Bashra (Jarrod), reached her first. He is a phenomenal fighter. I mean absolutely fantastic. If I can fight him ten times, and I him once, by sheer luck, I would be ecstatic. We split the fights over the fair maiden 60/40 or 70/30 (odds in his favor, of course). That alone means I was fighting well. I held the lady's hand three different times. Everyone else, besides maybe Shokra, did better than me (Shokra had some bad luck in the King of the Fort part of the tourney).

6. "Realmscraft". Think Warcraft. Six man teams. Excellently done, and true to the game, though being a peon sucked big time. It was a good twist to tournaments. We came in 2nd. Seth came just in time to make our team a 5 man team instead of 6 man.

7. Team Grand Melee. Oh we used such badass stealth. We just snuck around, being quiet, and found a good spot, on the downside of a hill, with no light shining on us. We put our shields over discernible body parts (like our heads and arms) to break up our forms. At least 3 teams passed within 15 feet of us, looked RIGHT at us, and continued on without seeing us.

I was the downfall of our team in this fight, unfortunately. Clan Mckrye had confronted us while we were searching the Fairhaven dead. We formed a line, and our right flank advanced while the left flank (Seth and I) refused the line. Unfortunately Owen charged forward, and I backed up quickly to give Seth a good shot with his weapon on Owen, but I fell over a stump I didn't see and kicked Seth down while I was falling. There went the left flank. That hurt like a sonofabitch (physically). Plus there was the guilt that comes with knowing that your team probably could have taken the enemy (the terrain favored us) if I hadn't screwed up. Once the flank goes, the entire line is compromised and exposed (for obvious reasons). We all died, thanks to me. Oh well, shit happens. No one was mad at me for it, its all in good fun. Actually, they were pretty concerned for me because I nailed my head on another branch or stump while falling, and my final position made it look like I might have gotten hurt. I was dazed for a few minutes, but after that I was fine.

8. Knowing your Teammate's contest. Sasha was chosen to go upstairs and answer 5 questions about herself, and we had 60 seconds to see if her answers matched with what we thought her answers would be.

If Sasha was a tree, which kind would she be? My first instinct was "Willow", but Shokra (who is married to her, in real life) said she would be an Oak. Her answer was "willow".

Who is the favorite member of your team? Well, we all knew it was Shokra. Seth told him that if he wasn't, then he was in trouble. Shokra then said that not only would he be in trouble, so would she. And so would be the third person. Josh then goes "well, I'll bet you its Kaelan" (Kaelan is me). Brian (Shokra) and Seth both look at me with demonic grins. Sasha goes, "Well, my favorite member of the team is Kaelan" (me). Brian's eyes go wide, and Seth and Josh start laughing their asses off. Then she flips over her card and goes, "well, its not, its Shokra".

Note: Sasha and I had gotten along pretty well for just meeting that day. We worked extremely well as a team right off the bat, and talking was easy (none of the nervous chatter or prolonged silences that are normal to people just getting to know each other). I was impressed at her ability as a healer, and her brains (she's WICKED smart, really good at deciphering riddles). She was impressed with my fighting skills (I'm not well known at all around the Realms, which made them more impressive), especially when I took on Clan McKrye all by myself and dishing out alot of damage before they killed me. Actually, alot of people were impressed by that, and a member of Clan McKrye that was not fighting in that particular tourney came up to me and congratulated me for staying alive and dishing out so much damage against her team (her team is like a tank...no true stopping them). Shokra was taken aback by my aggressiveness when fighting. Not many people who are relatively new are aggressive, they tend to let other people make the first move. I just go out swinging--if you let the other person go first, you are giving them the fight, because they can take their time and get your measure. You need to keep the enemy off balance at all times and in all regards.

Anywho, Brian almost had to kick my ass. Good thing she wasn't being serious.

Then we had the foosball tourney. Seth and I tooled, and we won the championship. Seth actually had to leave, so when it came down to the game to determine the overall victor, it was Josh beside me when we won. His skills have improved immensely since I had played him last.

Seth came back (strangely enough), and then it was time to fight our way through the Haunted House. Whomever made up the house did a wicked f*cking awesome job. That was a very fun part of the day.

After that we headed back and played more foosball and we just talked with each other.

Ok, time for me to actually work on homework. I'll write more later, hopefully.
