I've been going to martial arts quite a bit (except for last week). I'm still fat though. Just started Boxing on top of the other stuff. I'm still getting my ass kicked Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but I'm learning and getting better each time I go. Good night. (<$BlogItemCommentCount$>) comments Thursday, January 05, 2006
In other news, Ariel Sharon seems to be on death's door. Should he die, I hope the progress (seemingly little, but small gains are better than no gains) that he made in his attempt for peace between Israelis and Palestinians will be taken up by his successor, and that a peaceful solution may be found. Didn't go running (I'm now officially a lazy bastard), but I will have to start exercising when I get back for Vale Tudo, Muay Thai and TKD. The one big accomplishment I achieved today was to go over my courses, make sure I'm on track for graduation, and see if I'm able to switch out one course for another. Actually, I have to call WPI tomorrow to double check one little technicality, but I'm pretty sure I'm set and will be able to do as I have planned. Booyah! I also started making a list of new things I've learned (updated daily?). Then we went out and took care of a few errands that needed doing, and ate at Gennaro's, which is our restaurant of choice. Great food...the tiramisu seemed a little small, but then I realized that is actually the standard size for it. Excellent stuff. Later, went out to trivia night. We were a team of three tonight, and we represented ourselves well. There was a replacement DJ instead of the usual, and he was ok, but I got the feeling he wasn't well liked by the other patrons. Oh, and the waitress was nice and gave me nice large shots of Scotch (which was so good it didn't burn!). I had a good time, and I hope my fellow triviateers had one, as well. Now I'm off to have some food and maybe imbibe a wee bit o' the whiskey. Good night, everyone. "> (<$BlogItemCommentCount$>) comments Monday, January 02, 2006
First we went looking at the ice sculptures (whoop-dee-doo), then ate at Boston Beer Works, then played billiards at the same locale, and then moved on to the great [cold and snowy] outdoors. We then waited for the lackluster fireworks at midnight. One of our group walked away, and I can hardly blame him--being in Boston for New Years isn't as great as it's made out to be. First, there are a BILLION kids you want to strangle because they're blowing into those damn trumpets incessantly. Then there are all the drunk people that are too blasted to know where they are, and invariably decide it's a good idea to act like retards and start fights. And the trumpets...oh, I already covered it...but they deserve a second mention, because of their high annoyance factor. Plus there's always some asshole who thinks it'd be a good idea to blow one right in your ear and pretend like it's all good and you're not going to deck the him for being a complete fucktard. Grr. Can you tell I have a strong dislike for plastic toy trumpets? Oh, and I can't believe some ass cut an old lady in line for tickets at a movie theater. Come on, people! If you want to prove you're all some badass and some sort of tough guy, cutting an old lady in line IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT. Right, which brings me to the fact that we watched "The Ringer" (starring Johnny Knoxville). Fairly good movie. I felt dirty through the first half, but the second half redeemed it. Go see it, it''s worth a look-see. And Z managed to "smuggle" a bottle of vodka and rum in water bottles...I don't think anyone had any of it. I know I didn't. It was far too cold for alcohol (Despite the prevalent misconception, alcohol actually makes you colder. What happens is that alcohol in your system causes your arteries and veins to dilate, increasing blood flow, making you feel warmer. The downside is that this same dilation also increases the amount of heat transfer from your body to the ambient condition, and therefore making you colder and much more prone to hypothermia.) Spent the day at my aunt's and uncle's and cousins' place, and had a good time. Tramp isn't doing so hot...I could see his ribs, and he was very lethargic (which he normally isn't). He's got a few problems and is on medication, but I've never seen him so...sad and unexcited :-(. I hope he gets well very soon, so he can be back to his normal vigor for summer. Oh, Tramp's a dog, by the way. The family spent time watching the Pats game (close one, very good comeback at the end, but fell a bit short), some show on MTV called "NeXt"...absolutely hilarious, and then a good dosing of Denis Leary. Oh, and I got half-moons!!! Back to reading, goodnight.
